Sell your Armin Hansen painting
How Steven Stern Fine Arts approaches an Armin Hansen, from the first photographs you send to a completed purchase or consignment. Evaluations are free and confidential.
What to send us
Good photographs answer most first questions about a Hansen. Please send:
- the complete front, photographed straight on, out of the frame's glare;
- the full back, showing any title, inscription, date, stamp, exhibition or gallery label;
- a close view of the signature;
- the size of the picture itself (not the frame), and whether it is oil on canvas or board, watercolor, or an etching;
- any history you know: how it came into the family, receipts, letters, earlier appraisals.
Please don't clean, varnish, reframe or remove labels from the painting before we have seen it.
How we evaluate a Hansen
Every evaluation is personal and confidential. The gallery weighs authorship, subject, period, medium, size, condition, provenance and exhibition history. With Hansen, subject comes first: crews hauling nets, boats running before a storm and the Monterey wharf and fleet are his signature themes, while landscapes, ranch scenes and works on paper appeal to a somewhat different audience.
Your options
- Direct purchase by the gallery, with prompt payment.
- Consignment, with the gallery offering the painting privately to its collectors for you.
- Advice for significant single works, estates and collections.
Where we work
The gallery is in Los Angeles and works with Hansen owners throughout California and across the United States.
